There was a massive animal print trend in 90′s fashion, which inevitably trickled down into interiors at the turn of the 21st century. I remember my first job as an interior designer, my boss loved animal print, and tried to push it onto her clients, thank god most of them new better!

In my opinion the problem with the trend wasn’t the concept, or even the prints, it was execution. I think that is usually the problem with trends in general. They get over-done. Some decorators (you know who you are) {actually you probably don’t, that’s part of the problem}, go over board with a theme or idea. Design should be subtle, just like fashion. At least that’s my two bits.

So what do you think of this Urban Safari room? Now, I wouldn’t do ALL of the things in this room (were you paying attention above when I said don’t over-do it?) But taking some of these African safari elements and putting them in a modern room, with understated and beautiful furniture, gives a big wow factor.
