Born in the Queen Charlotte Islands, and raised on the Sunshine Coast, Leah Rourke had an early admiration for natural beauty. Her vision of implementing the virtues of BC’s landscape into interior environments became a reality upon graduating summa cum laude from the renowned Interior Design Program at Vancouver Island University. Under the administration of an established design firm in Nanaimo, Leah worked on many high profile and provocative projects in BC and Alberta for several years. Upon various offers to freelance, including an invitation to design a BC Cancer Foundation Lifestyle Lottery House, Leah opted to spread her wings and head south to Victoria in 2005.
Leah broke into the Victoria design community with passion and vigour. She invested all of her resources into the development of the award winning design firm. The sacrifices paid off when the team won 7 silver CARE Awards for commercial and residential projects in 2007. Leah has been featured in several design magazines worldwide including Kitchen Trends, Bathroom Trends, Style at Home and Island Home & Style, as well as being recognized on Toronto’s hit TV talk show City Line. Leah was proudly recognized by Women’s Enterprise Center as one of BC’s 100 New Pioneer Women Entrepreneurs 2008 in a coffee table book.
Amid considerable and systematic growth, Relish Interiors was born out of Founder Leah Rourke’s desire to provide an innovative approach to what she views as the Social Science of Interior Design. Her philosophy focuses on developing a balance between a client’s artistic vision and their practical needs. Relish Interiors aims to work within the clients’ budget parameters to produce constructable and cost conscious details and specify high quality, but reasonably priced finishes while giving nothing away to the form and character of the initial vision.
